Stay at home | Protect the NHS | Save Lives
It is official, we are back in lockdown. It may not be the exact same as the lockdown we had in March and April, but the basic method is the same.
The Covid-19 virus is growing faster in the Autumn months and to help protect the NHS and save lives, the Prime Minister, Boris Johnson has announced the new restriction will carry on until December 2nd.
With Winter just around the corner and the icy weather conditions already nipping at our nose, the regular flu season cannot be far away. Our NHS will be overwhelmed, so it is time to take action.
‘’Christmas this year will be very different’’ says the PM ‘’but it’s my sincere hope and belief that by taking action now we can allow families across the country to be together’’
Uncertain Times:
For many, the uncertainly surrounding Covid-19 fills them with anxiety. We don’t know what the next few weeks will bring and how we can be impacted by it.
It is easy to succumb to fear in the face of uncertainty and unpredictability. Especially if you are in the high-risk category or living alone.
The New Normal
With the new restrictions coming into play we must all remember to:
- Stay at home unless you have a specific reason to leave such as work that cannot be done at home.
- Only leave the house for school, outdoor recreation, essential shopping.
Now as the days grow colder and the nights longer, we must remember to take care of ourselves, our mental and physical wellbeing.
It just so happens to be international stress awareness week too and we wanted to cover some good tips on how to reduce stress and ease your Covid-19 anxiety.
Stay Connected:
While we may not be able to see our friends and loved ones like we usually do it doesn’t mean we can’t stay connected. Technology is a wonderful thing and these days we can use it in so many different ways to stay in contact.
All you need is a charged phone/tablet/computer and a good internet signal.
Go Easy on Yourself:
It’s a tough time for all of us, so if you are feeling extra anxious, more stressed, and tired of it all, it’s ok. We are all in this together, give yourself a break.
Set yourself a Routine:
While the majority of us will be staying at home it’s a good idea to get into a routine from the beginning. Try and get yourself into a good sleeping, eating, working, and exercise plan. It can help keep things at home as normal as they can be in these times.
Get Back to Nature:
We’re going from Autumn to Winter so we may not get much sun but the seasonal changes are a beautiful thing to witness. What little sunshine we and fresh air will do you good.
Even a small walk around the neighborhood can make you feel better. Just be sure to avoid crowds, keep your distance, and obey the restrictions in your area.
Exercise:
Staying active will help you release any anxiety, relieve stress, and help you manage your mood.
The gyms and pools may be closed but there are still a wide variety of things you can still do; cycle, hike, or walk.
Don’t forget there are millions of online youtube videos on how to meditate as well as yoga for beginners.
Have Fun at Home:
The house is full of enjoyable activities you can get to that book you ever got to finish, dust off the old board games, have a movie night, or even try a daring new recipe. Do you know how the old saying goes? Idle hands do the devil’s work.
Keeping active around the house will keep your mind off the worries and anxiety around Covid-19
Times are hard but we can get through them together. Make sure to follow the restrictions, stay home unless it’s an emergency or a necessity and we can get through this together.
